Mica (in the center photo with her Tita Bugsy) lost her life too soon two years ago in a tragic vehicular accident. On November 4, what would have been Mica’s 19th birthday, her Tita Bugsy found a wonderful way to share Mica’s memory 19,000 times with kids whose most recent memories are tragic, whose days are full of fear and whose futures are uncertain. These are kids who lost their homes in the recent waves of earthquakes in North Cotabato and other parts of MIndanao. Tita Bugsy launched what she thought was an ambitious drive: #19KMingoForMica, hoping to raise 19,000 Mingo Meals in Mica’s memory. She hoped to reach the number at least on November 22, Mica’s death anniversary.
Guess what? Before 24 hours could even pass, Bugsy’s and Mica’s family and friends have already reached the target! Inspired by everyone’s generosity, Tita Bugsy’s not stopping and #19KMingoforMica hasn’t closed its doors. Learn about NVC’s Mingo for Mindanao drive.
