Party Prep
Just as a young lady and her mom were planning how to celebrate the young lady’s 18th birthday, the story about the Mingo Bus being back was featured on our FB page. The timing was perfect! It was as if the post had been Heaven-sent (and it just might have been)!
Since the Mingo Bus was already booked for the remaining weekends of July, the mom and daughter duo decided to go with the next available Saturday, August 3. They decided to make it a birthday party for the July and August celebrants. We chose Bantayan Park in Bago as the venue.
Celebrating in the Park
We served a hearty snack of Mingo champorado and Mingo pan de sal. After that, the guests (moms and kids alike) enjoyed delicious cupcakes. And we sang happy birthday as the celebrants blew out their own birthday candles. It was the first time for the kids to celebrate their birthdays in such a festive manner!
In addition to serving snacks, we showed a video on the importance of good nutrition. Following that were games and a quiz bee! Of course we gave prizes to the winners–cute items for the kids and bags of rice for the moms. For the final game, the birthday celebrants stood in a circle and we placed plush stuffed toys in the middle. The toys were a recent donation from a kind soul who generously gave up these cute toys so that other children would be able to love them. We blindfolded the kids and had them search for their birthday gifts in the middle of the circle.
Better the Second Time Around!
This was not the first time for the young lady to #Sharelebrate with us. Last year, she gifted LoveBags to 17 children on her 17th birthday. We’re so touched that she chose the NVC community to be part of her special day again this year.
