MANILA – If you happen to be in Makati this week, check out this trunk show that lets you shop for eco-friendly gifts for a cause.
Happening from October 22 to 24 at Palm Avenue in Dasmariñas Village, “Bai Bai, Bukid” (which means the sea and the mountains in the native Hiligaynon dialect) showcases pieces made of local materials as well as discarded items like Nespresso capsules, glass chips, egg shells, and ceramic tiles.
Products sold at the event, which is organized by the non-profit Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) Foundation, range from home décor to religious items.
Proceeds benefit NVC’s nutrition program – a daily, six-month feeding protocol mostly for infants and toddlers using Mingo, an instant nutritious and natural complementary food. The foundation manufactures Mingo in their government-certified production plant which sources ingredients from local farmers.
According to NVC, Mingo has also been served in emergency relief activities in areas like those hit by typhoon Yolanda as well as in war-torn Marawi.
