Long-Standing Partnership
About 50km south of our home base of Bacolod lies Hinigaran which occupies a special place in our hearts. This was where the Peter Project was born in February 2013 and where our first few boats were made. Over the years, we’ve turned over Mingo Meals, classrooms, sewing machines, tricycles and many other tools to the community. In July, we met with the Mayor and Vice Mayor to discuss new tie-ups.
A New Venture
We were excited to be working on another joint venture with the people of this municipality. Vice Mayor Grace Arceo asked us to be her nutrition partner for Grace Cares Foundation. We kicked off this new partnership with a Mingo Bus party for the 100 most undernourished children of Hinigaran and their mothers. Guests enjoyed Mingo pan de sal and Mingo champorado down to the last drop! We also showed a video on the importance of good nutrition. After that, we had a quiz bee with prizes for the children and moms who answered our questions correctly. In addition to that there school bags for the children and care packages for the families were distributed.
100 Children Enrolled
The best part was that the feeding did not end there. Vice Mayor Grace enrolled the children in our Mingo Meals nutrition program for six months. Barangay-based nutrition teams from Hinigaran, Negros Occidental were oriented on the Mingo Meals Feeding Program. They will monitor the progress of the children enrolled in the program.
