We’ve been sharing stories about friends across the Philippines who have been fundraising for NVC’s Mingo for Marawi drive.
In another part of the world, an ortho-physical therapist has been spending her off hours patiently stirring her homemade ube halaya on top of a stove, with the Mingo for Marawi drive in mind as well.
Bing Sancho Junio initially thought of sending US$50 as her contribution to the fund. But she thought twice and realized that if she would sweat it out in her kitchen, she could sell 16-oz mason jars filled with her ube halaya for $10 each, and would be able to remit even more.
And sure she did, because we received $390 from Bing! We’re too far away to taste a bit of her concoction, but we know that hers is yummiest of all because of an extra ingredient called love.
