Lorenzo is a Peter Project beneficiary. One side of his boat says danke and the other side says salamat. Danke is “thank you” in German, while salamat means the same in Filipino.
Truly an apt name for Mang Lorenzo’s boat, because he was so profuse in his thanks upon receiving his boat. He had answered so many surveys before NVC’s, with promises that these surveys would ultimately give him a boat. We were the last to survey, and even though he still answered, he had lost hope that a boat would ever get to him.
On March 15, 2014, The Peter Project delivered his boat. When Alyne, our Project Officer, left the area, Mang Lorenzo was still wiping his boat clean, something he had been doing for about an hour already.
