Mingo Champorado
You can improve the nutritional value of a dish by adding Mingo to it and one example is Mingo champorado. This delicious chocolate rice porridge is packed with nutrition and flavor. It’s an NVC house specialty and we would often serve it from the kitchen of Mingoy our Food Shuttle. Because of word of mouth, people outside of Negros grew curious about Mingo champorado.
Now Serving in Makati
Recently, a friend of NVC decided that more families around the country should enjoy this tasty treat! And so she ordered chocolate Mingo in bulk and got permission to share our recipe.
Mingo Champorado hit the streets of Makati in 2021. The Kusina ni Maria van of San Ildefonso Parish in Makati cruises the streets to reach hungry parishioners. And the team serves them generous bowls of piping hot Mingo champorado. Fr. Ric Lorenzo Fernando, SDB and his dedicated team are in charge of this meal program.
Introducing Mingo Ube Champorado
And recently, the Kusina ni Maria team added another item to their menu! First, they took the Mingo champorado recipe we shared with them and then they gave it a twist. They experimented with another popular flavor of Mingo: ube. Parishioners eagerly line up for their share of lovely purple Mingo ube champorado. They have really taken a liking to this new tasty Mingo treat and enjoy it in addition to the classic Mingo champorado! Will we be seeing more flavors of Mingo champorado soon?
