A new partnership with maritime healthcare company Halcyon Marine Healthcare Systems and Project Liwanag, a nonprofit that serves indigenous Aetas in Northern Luzon, has enabled the feeding of 37 Aeta children with daily Mingo Meals for one year.
Mingo Meals landed in Capas, Tarlac on October 23, 2017 after a 45-minute ride on a four-wheel-drive and a 4-hour trek where no other mode of transportation could pass. NVC’s field officer Alyne Batano and executive director Milette Regalado went through eight lakes and vast, undocumented lands to reach Sitio Pisapungan, Brgy, Sta. Juliana, where the new Mingo beneficiaries reside.
The 37 children, aged 6 months to 6 years, are from the Henge Boy Ayta Abellen tribe. The feeding will be implemented by Project Liwanag, and was sponsored by Dr. and Dra. Canlas of Halcyon Marine.
