In March, Vice President Leni Robredo visited Sipalay to deliver home repair kits to Typhoon Odette survivors. We served as the ground partners for this donation coursed through the Tanging Yaman Foundation. While in the area, the Vice President checked up on the members of Barangay 2 Small Fishermen Association. The assistance package she gave them previously through Angat Buhay included processing equipment and a solar dyer. The group used this equipment to prepare dried bottled barongoy (flying fish). The delicious specialty goes well over crackers, crisp bread and even steamed rice.
We have checked on the group’s work and can vouch not just for the product’s quality but for the hygienic production as well. To improve their production capability, NVC turned over a bigger pressure cooker and will also turn over a vacuum sealer. In addition to that, our food technologist has volunteered to be their mentor.
