On May 13, Angela Mapa, our Communications Lead represented NVC Foundation at the 54th AF General Assembly at Novotel Manila in Araneta Center, Cubao. The GA highlighted collaboration and shared leadership.
Mr. Ramon del Rosario Jr., Chairman and CEO of PHINMA Corporation and Philippine Investment Management (PHINMA) gave the keynote speech. In it, he reminded AF members of the responsibility of development actors to strengthen public institutions and accountability. A panel discussion followed featuring representatives from collaborative platforms that AF is driving. Mr. Howie Severino served as the Moderator. The panel was composed of Mayor Lulu Calonge, Atty. Onggie Canivel, Ms. Bella Quimpo, Ms. Phoebe Carrera, and Ms. Barbie Dumlao. During the discussion, panelists shared how their collaborative platforms began. In addition, they also talked about the challenges they encountered, and the mindsets needed to sustain collaboration across organizations and sectors.
The morning session concluded with a call to action from Liza Lopez, Executive Director of Mahintana Foundation, Inc. and AF Trustee, who urged AF members to engage more actively in AF’s collaborative platforms. In the afternoon, members proceeded with the business meeting to complete the day’s GA proceedings.
