In a mountain village called Lono Lono, 75 families live with no access to electricity. Situated in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, the community is 90 kilometers away from the main town. A 2.5-hour motorcycle ride that runs through three rivers is needed to reach this mountain community. Here, people work on the land to harvest corn and sweet potato mainly for their own consumption. Three meals a day here is a luxury, a meal usually consists of corn or sweet potato.
On January 26, 2020, NVC launched the Mingo Meals nutrition program for 108 children in this village, sponsored by Jenifer Moser Furness through Malachi Fund. This will assure the children of daily servings of Mingo for six months.
