On the left is Ezekiel. For some time, he had to act as both mother and father to his younger siblings. Read the full story here. In addition to that, he was dealt another blow. His school nearly failed him for not complying with the necessary research requirements. Because Ezekiel did not have access to the internet, he could not do any research. Thankfully, the school gave him a chance and allowed him to move on to the next grade. And we decided to gift him with a smart phone so that he doesn’t have to worry about this sort of thing again. (The tears he’s crying here are tears of joy!)
Just like Ezekiel, many students are struggling with their schoolwork now that schools have had to transition to distance learning. We wish we could help all of them but our budget is stretched thin and with so many people starving, we have had to prioritize our nutrition programs.
This is why we were so happy when a group of students got in touch with us. Mickey and Friends, as we like to refer to them, offered to raise funds to procure smart gadgets for students in need. The girls managed to raise an impressive P31,098.95 which they turned over to us.
However, because Typhoon Odette caused so much devastation, the students decided to donate the funds to emergency relief operations instead. Thank you so much, Mickey and Friends! This donation will surely go a long way!
