There are many angels who help us fight against hunger. Among them are the Siervas de Maria (Servants of Mary). The order was founded in Madrid, Spain and has established 125 convents all over the world, including three in the Philippines. Their mission is to bring the compassionate presence of God, in the spirit of Mary, to all they meet and minister to. And one way they do this is to help us bring Mingo Meals to children and the elderly.
Most of the nuns are trained in the medical profession. In Bacolod they serve the poorest of the poor by operating a free clinic. It has a has laboratory, an x-ray machine and ultrasound facilities. They conduct home visitations and help those who need hospitalization get admitted. They have even purchased an ambulance (on credit and on faith) to better help those whom they serve.
Thank you and God bless you, sisters!
