Citadines Bacolod City (part of the Ascott Group) is the newest and largest hotel/serviced residence in the city. It has 200 rooms as well as wonderful dining and recreational facilities. On June 14, Citadines Bacolod officially opened its doors to the public with a fun-filled launch. That same day, two huge murals which are on display in the hotel were also unveiled to the public. Both of these were made by our Artisans of Hope.
When guests check -in, they are greeted by the view of a mural behind the Front Desk, This mural depicts seven Negros Occidental festivals including the famous Masskara Festival of Bacolod. And on a prominent wall in the property hangs Buglas (the pre-Hispanic name for Negros). This impressive 3 x 6 meter mural showcases images from the past, present and imagine future of the island. It took 16 artisans four months to finish this project. Both murals make use of tile mosaic, upcycled Nespresso coffee capsules, capiz trimmings and broken eggshells.
Proceeds of these art pieces were converted to 15,000 Mingo Meals for undernourished kids. In addition to that, the Artisans who worked on these pieces earned well because of this project for Citadines.
