As of June 20, 2017, all 1,423 donated LoveBags for School Kids have been delivered to children living in the mountains of Bukidnon, Mindanao and Himamaylan, Negros Island who have very limited access to school supplies. NVC identified 852 recipients from the indigenous Tala-andig tribe in Bukidnon, Mindanao, and 571 recipients from the Maghat, Bukidnon, and Ituman tribes located in the mountain region of Himamalyan, Negros Island, who are in the same situation.
Volunteer event
On May 13, 2017, more than 100 volunteers gathered at SM City in Bacolod to pack over 1,000 LoveBags in preparation for delivery to the schoolchildren.
Delivery
It took all manner of transportation to get the LoveBags to their waiting owners. The packages traveled on trucks, ponies, motorcycles, human heads and shoulders, and carabao-pulled sleds through dirt roads, puddles, rivers, and up mountain trails. These photos inspired a new hashtag, #LoveDelivers — because it truly does!
Happy, smiling children
The LoveBags finally arrive, and we are all rewarded with the smiles of happy children who are off to a good start this school year.
