We have been receiving requests from across the Philippines for the protective gowns and face shields that our volunteers have been making for the frontline health workers in our home province of Negros Occidental. Unfortunately, we’re limited by the lack of supplies and cargo facilities to distribute outside the province.
You can make your own
Instead, we encourage everyone to form their own teams of volunteers or paid workers who can sew at home. In NVC’s case, many of our sewers are unpaid volunteers, but we do pay a fair price for the output of those with marginal incomes or have lost their livelihood because of lockdown.
Gown pattern
We’re sharing the pattern that we’re using for protective gowns. For the fabric, we use plastic linen, but you can also explore other waterproof materials like nylon taffeta (used to make umbrellas).
