Last March 2017, NVC kicked off the construction of a preschool building and playground for children of the indigenous people in Sitio Bugtong Lubi, Hinobaan, Negros Island. Sitio Bugtong Lubi is a mountain community that is extremely marginalized due to its remote location.
Below is the old school that children in the community attended.
The two-classroom building was completed four months later in June 2017 and has been turned over. The new school house is fully equipped with right-sized furniture and toilets.
Thanks to additional donations from people who heard about this project, there’s also a playground for the children to enjoy.
This was a particularly difficult project for NVC because the area is so difficult to access, we couldn’t use trucks to carry construction materials to the site. All the schoolhouse components, including these large beams, had to be brought up strapped to motorcycles and horse-drawn carts.
However, as with all our projects, NVC remained undeterred, because #LoveDelivers!
We thank the donors of this project for trusting NVC to pull through!
