200 Cadiz children to be fed for a year
A hundred infants and toddlers will be given daily Mingo Meals for one year, while another hundred school-age children will be fed with rice meal packs from Rise Against Hunger Foundation.
What is the Equis Zero Hunger program?
In partnership with NVC and Rise Against Hunger Foundation, the Equis Zero Hunger program will feed a total of 1,000 children for one year in Cadiz as well as Ormoc, Leyte; Kibawe, Bukidnon; Rizal, and Batangas. Equis, a renewable energy company headquartered in Singapore, operates in these five locations in the Philippines.
In Cadiz, Equis invests in Helios Solar Energy Corporation, the largest solar generation facility in Southeast Asia. Equis’s commitment to sustainability reaches all the way to the lives of the people in its communities.
Present at the event were Equis representatives Marivic Acuyong, Project Development and Regional Affairs Coordinator; Cora Bacolod, Human Resources Manager; and Jun Anduyan, Manager in Cadiz. Mingo feeding was supervised by NVC Executive Director Milette Regalado and Field Officer Alyne Batano.
NVC also works with Rise Against Hunger in producing the dried vegetables and fruits that serve as nutritional components of the rice meal packs. These are sourced from local farmers and are dehydrated in NVC’s Mingo manufacturing plant.
