Mingo first found its way to Leyte to help feed the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan. On July 6, another disaster hit Leyte. Though smaller in scale, it still affected thousands of people: a 6.5 magnitude earthquake and over 700 aftershocks in the span of a week caused the hard hit city of Ormoc and the town of Kananga to declare a state of emergency and prompted the evacuation of 616 families, according to ABS-CBN News.
Through the generosity of donors, NVC has sent Mingo Meals for the displaced children living in evacuation centers in both Ormoc and Kanaga.
When a toothy smile is chocolatey, you know this kid just had a quick fix of what we now call Mingo-on-the-Go. That’s a Mingo Meal straight out of the pack!
In crowded evacuation centers, the whole place is usually bedroom-dining room-playroom all in one. This is the reason why NVC exerts all efforts to reach as many such as these, to get Mingo Meals to hungry little stomachs in the soonest possible time whenever people are forced to leave their homes.
Not only so the kids will not go hungry, but more importantly, to help make sure that their bodies are packed with healthy and nutritious sources of food to help them fight disease which hits children in these crowded places. And to make sure that even as their lives as unsettled, their minds and bodies continue to grow.
Thank you to those who are always quick answer our calls for asisstance!
